Ribbon cut, ready for glue!

 W.O.W. Journals How-To:

What is a W.O.W. Journal?
A W.O.W. journal is a writing journal based off of The Daily Five book (By The 2 Sisters). If you haven't checked it out, you should! Here is a link to their website. http://www.the2sisters.com/theDaily5.html
Glue pretty side down.
W.O.W. stands for "Work on Writing". The students will use this for most of their writing throughout the year. How many of you have had your students choose random pages throughout their journals? No order whatsoever. Enter the built in bookmark! Want to know how it is done?

Cut and glued.

What you will need:
Notebook (composition or spiral)
Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun/Glue Sticks
Labels (I made my own)
Sticker paper (optional)

Step 1: Measure and cut the ribbon. I chose to cut mine all at once. I measured the front cover, and then added another half.
Step 2: Cut the "V" at the bottom. You can also cut it at a slant if you're looking for a faster way.
Step 3: Turn to the back cover. If your ribbon has a design on one side, glue that side DOWN. Glue it about a quarter of the way to half way down with a glue gun. Be quick once you put that hot glue on there because it dries fast! Put pressure on it for a few seconds.
**Now flip it over the top of the book and lay it in between the pages. I am putting my ribbon by the front cover so the kids know that is where they should begin writing. Each day they will move the ribbon back a page so they're ready for the next day.
Step 4: Attach a label. I made my own label on my laptop and printed it on sticker paper. It sticks really well this way. The composition books I purchased have a glossy texture to the covers, so I knew I had to find a way to make the label permanent.

That's it! Have questions? Ask below. :)
